Most people define themselves as normal, but not me. In fact, I'm probably one of the most chaotic people you'll ever meet. My name is Sara, and I am indeed a half-blood. A few months ago I had thought Greek Gods and legends were just myths, but I changed my mind in a heartbeat. But I'm getting ahead of myself, I should probably inform all of you how I first got here.
My day had started out as a conventional Tuesday afternoon, and as usual I was in science class. I eyed my science heedlessly, not giving a care of the jumbled words that seemed to bolt across the page, mocking me. Before you jump to conclusions about me, let me explain something to you. I can read. The only dilemma I have is that I can only read Greek. Unnatural, I know, but at least I have a sense of what reading is like.
Tapping my fingers gingerly upon the smooth pages of my text book, I glance over at my science teacher's turtles swimming about in their tank embodied by water. For a split second, I swore I had seen their two faces combined. Dazed, I shook my head, relinquishing the thought from my head.
"Alright class," my science teacher said with one of her over-cheery smiles. "Please turn your textbook to page, twenty-fi..." She stopped in mid-sentence and her eyes grew so large that I thought they'd pop right out of her head. She mumbled uncomprehending words under her breath, and let out a petrified scream.
I whipped by head over towards the wall where I had seen her staring, and jumped out of my chair, awe-struck at what towered above me. The two-headed monster let out a savage roar, and summoned scorching flames at me. At that moment my reflexes and adrenaline kicked in, and I dove behind a lab table, missing the flames by inches.
At this point the room was on fire, and students were psychotically running about the room. As if things couldn't get anymore strange, a strange, furry creature jumped out of a large shadow a few feet away from me. Atop of it were two figures. A boy with shaggy black hair and brown eyes, and a girl who also had black hair but had electric blue eyes.
The two jumped down from the creature, and the girl yelled something to the boy over the noise. The boy nodded, and charged at the monster. The girl then whispered something in the creature's ear, and it bounded after the boy. She then glanced under the table at me, and rushed forward.
"Are you alright?" she asked me, clearly worried.
"Uh..." I said, rather dumbly.
Clearly the girl took that as a yes, and nodded. "Stay here then." She then whisked off to join the creature and the boy.
"Gee, thanks for making be feel like a useless lump," I muttered sarcastically under my breath. However, maybe it would be best if I just observed what was happening from a distance.
At that moment the boy was slicing the two-headed monster with a wicked cool sword, and the girl was shooting arrows that looked like silver comets dashing across the sky. Then, the furry creature was distracting the monster, nimbly dodging its attacks.
"Show them that you aren't as weak as they think you are," a voice in my head purred. "Find your inner strength."
"Good plan," I thought to the imaginary voice, and rose from the floor that I had been pathetically laying on. I strode over to the monster, filled with a power I had never felt before. "Hey ugly!" I yelled up to the monster. "Why don't you go back to the hole that you crawled out of!"
The monster swung its two sets of beady black eyes towards me, and I realized that I had just made a huge mistake. Gulping, a took a small step back. At this point the boy and girl were staring at me in shock.
"Why the heck did you have to interfere?" the girl yelled angrily at me. "We had this all under control!"
The monster was clearly annoyed by the girl's yelling, and it thrust its immense tail towards the girl, knocking her to the side.
"Thalia!" the boy cried out to the girl, obviously named Thalia. He completely forgot about the monster, and rushed towards the girl.
At this point, anger was boiling inside of me. I didn't know why, though. Maybe I was mad that I had caused all of this. Maybe I was angry that my life from this moment on would never be normal again. Whatever, the reason, I don't know, but what I do know is that when my anger had settled throughout all of me, the monster burst into flames and turned to ash. I don't remember much after that point, because then I blacked out.
