I never asked to go to camp half-blood.
I'd always been a loyal Harry Potter Addict (of course, on tape. I can't read with all the words jumping up and down.) and would I was offered between Half-Blood Camp and Hogwarts, I would most certainly choose Hogwarts right off the bat.
I am Zaidia (Zaidi, Zaiddy, etc.) Black. 12, Old ADHD dyslexic extraordinaire! Fun Fact: I've been hit by lightning. 6 times! I am absolutely horrible at school. I only excel in swim class and art. I live with my Mom, Fred my work-o-holic not birth dad. Mom married him when I was 5. Leo and Andrew, 3yr. Energetic twin boys.. Oh, and we live in a rural part of good ol' IN.
My life goes something like this. Well, this is how it used to go, before I got caught up in this crazy world of-- Oh, I'll tell you about that later.
I wake up to my annoying alarm clock, wondering why my Father died when I was only 5
months old. Seriously, every morning I think about that.
months old. Seriously, every morning I think about that.
Then, about 5 minutes before its time for school, Andrew and Leo come into my room and tackle in my bed. After prying them off, I get dressed and eat a pop tart. Mom's strict about starting my homeschooling right at 8 o'clock. I'm not good at school. I'm really not. I've begged my mom just to let me stop doing school (I mean, what's the point if I'm no good?) We've been mostly working been focusing on Greek mythology lately. It's super duper interesting.
After I finish school, I lounge around the house, mess with Leo and Andrew, or do some stuff on the computer. Mostly games or talking to some of my online friends. (Carolyn, Ellie, Ima Virginia and Quinyln just to name a few) At 4:00pm I go to swimming.
I hate to brag but I'm really good at swimming. I guess. Well, I really hate doing laps and stuff but I love being in the water, swimming under water, that sort. I can hold my breath for a decent amount of time, to.
So, yesterday, before I arrived at camp half blood. That's where we'll begin out story.
“Come on, Zaidi. Get in the car, you'll be late.” Mom said, giving me a slight push into the car.
I sat in the back and buckled up.
“I hope Laurel isn't there this time.” I sighed.
“Why not? Laurel is a simply lovely girl.”
Right. Well, my mom simply can't see that Laurel reminds me of a demon. I mean, she might act nice, but she's noting but nasty. She's slowly but steadily bullied me more and more over the past few months. She's driving me up a wall.
The rest of the car ride was silent.
We got there with 15 minutes to spare. Just like always. I quickly got into the girls' locker room and changed into my suit.I walked to the edge of the pool and dived in. I swam towards the deep end (12 foot) and dived down to sit on the bottom of the pool.
In a minute or to, I resurfaced to see if anyone else was there. I looked all the way around the indoor pool and saw no one. However, the very second I went under I heard talking. I came back up with just my eyes and ears showing. Closer to the shallow end was my coach, Grover. No one really calls him by his last name, they just call him Grover. He has Brown eyes, Brown curly hair, and wears a red ball cap. Oh, and he has a slight limp.
Well, he was standing next to a girl with blond curly hair and a guy with blackish hair. To tell you the truth, it was about the same color as mine. Awkward.
First I heard Grover say, “It's really good to see you guys.” I was guessing these kids were past swimmers of his.
“So, where is she?” Said the girl with the curly hair. She looked around the room and I had to duck under the water to avoid being seen.
“Well, class doesn't till 4:00... However, Zaidia-- the girl-- normally comes early.”
I got a little bit tired of trying to stay at the surface so I bobbed under. Bad idea if your trying to eavesdrop.
They all looked over at me. Grover motioned the girl and guy to sit in the stands.
“Zaiddy!” Grover smiled, walking towards the deep end. I smiled, but kept my eyes on the girl and the guy.
“Zaiddy!” Grover smiled, walking towards the deep end. I smiled, but kept my eyes on the girl and the guy.
“Sorry I'm early again Grover.. I got here early to practice.”
Grover shook his head. “Nah, it's fine. Now, let's go ahead and get you started. Let's start with laps, seeing your already warmed up... Backstroke!”
I nodded and swam out of the deep end.
Even while I was swimming, I kept watching the girl and guy. I could have swore I heard the guy say “Oh come on, just a quick dip?”
“For Gods' sake, please Percy! We're here for one reason and do you need to be reminded?”
“No.” The guy named Percy said, rolling his eyes.
That moment, the doors to the locker room burst open and kids flooded to the pool.
Grover stood up and waved his hands for silence, and then, classes started. Classes went on as usually.

Turns out, Laurel was there. And, today, she couldn't take her eyes off of Percy and the girl with him. Seriously.
I climbed out of the pool and walked into the locker room. I couldn't find my clothes because, what do you know, Laurel was standing next to me waving them around in my face.
“Looking for these?” She hissed.
“Yes, I am, thanks.” I tried to grab them from her. She pulled them back.
“Well, won't that this be fun?” Laurel said, clucking her tounge.
“Come on Laurel! Give it! I don't have time for this today, can't we re-schedule this for next week?”
She licked her lips.
“I've always wanted to do this.” She said, whipping her blond hair around. She stepped closer to me and smiled a toothy smile. I realized then and there, that Laurel had fangs.
“Goodbye, Half-blood.” Laurel looked ready to eat me. I should have known she was a Vampire!
She got ready to pounce on me. I pressed myself against the wall and looked around the room, scared to death. However, all the other girls looks like there was nothing wrong. The continued to pack up there clothes or take off there swim suits.
I shut my eyes and the whole room gasped. Oh, now what, they could see her?
I was wrong.
The girl with the blonde curly hair had just walked into the locker room, with a dagger. She raised it and stabbed Vampire/Laurel in the back. She dissolved into dust.
The girls all around the room stopped, got a dazed look in there eyes, and went on with what they were doing. What. Was. Going. On?
“Come on, Zaidia, we've got to go.” The girl with the curly hair said.
I didn't move.
“What just happened?” I said. My eyes were huge.
“I'll explain later, when we get you to wear your going.”
I shook my head. “Um, my mom's probably waiting for me, I should get going--”
“Listen, you need to come with me unless you feel like being attack by another monster.”
I don't know what made me do it but I let her pull me out of the locker room.
“What about my Clothes?” I said, feeling stupid that I was about to walk out into the wide world in my bathing suit.
She pulled out an Orange T-shirt and a pair of shorts and thrust them in my hands.
“Put those over your suit.”
“Put those over your suit.”
I did as she said (right there, next to the pool) while she walked over to Grover and Percy.
Much to my surprise, they followed her.
I continued to follow them out the door, confused. “Where are we going?” I asked them as we opened the door to walk out onto the street.
“Camp Half-Blood.” Said Grover.
I stopped in my tracks when we got to the sidewalk.
“Listen, I really shouldn't be going--”
“MOVE!” The girl screamed and shoved me to the ground. I was about to get up and walk back inside but I soon realized that she saved me from being crushed by a flying horse.
“Thanks...” I said, in a daze. I was looking at, well, I wasn't sure really, but I think it was three Pegasusi.
“Hey BlackJack.” Percy said smiling. “Yes, she's coming.” He said to the white one.
“I am?” I asked.
“Yes.” Said Grover.
“Who are you people?” I said angrily.
“I'm Annabeth.” Said the girl. Her eyes gray and he curls were crazy curls.
“Zaid, you know I'm Grover. “ I tipped his hat to me and I saw that he had horns. I mean it. It's like he was a goat or something!
“I'm Percy.” Said... Percy. I already knew his name.
“And where are we going?”
“Well, we'll tell you that later. All you need to know is that your going to a summer camp.
Much to my protest, Percy picked me up and put me of the chocolate colored Pegasus. I clutched his mane as we took off into the sky.
“Was Grover right?” Percy asked Annabeth.
“About the emposi?”
“Yeah, was he?” Percy yelled over the wind.
“Told you!” Grover said. It was strange to see him being friends with two sixteen year old kids.
I guess I fell asleep after that. Because I can't really remember anything else.
When I woke up, I found my Pegasus flying over the empire state building. Wow. How did we fly from Indiana to New York City in a days time?
We finally started to fly lower. Sooner than I thought, we hit the ground and I nearly flew off.
Annabeth helped me down and I wobbled around for at least 5 minutes before I could stand up properly.
Things just got weirder and weirder.
Well, first of all, I rode a Pegasus to New York City. Now I landed in a Summer camp that looked like Ancient Greece or something. Well, you probably know what it looks like, seeing I'm the only one who's never heard of this place. Oh and when I looked down the path I saw a centaur coming up. You learn something new every day, don't you?

“How did it work out? “ Said the Centaur
“Fine.” Said Annabeth, patting my shoulder. (Which was weird, since I was about 4 inches shorter than she was.
“Ah! Sorry about that. Ah, follow me, dinner is about to start.”
“See you around, Chiron!”
I followed this centaur, Chiron, I think that's what Annabeth called him into the farm house he told me to sit at the table he called the 'un-determined table'
“I'm not un-determined!” I said stubbornly.
“Yes, yes you are Zaidia. We don't know who your parent is.” He said calmly.
I deiced not to argue.
